Prepare for the State Practical Exam

Now that you have passed the state theory exam you can gather your supplies to take the practical exam.

  1. Gather your exam supplies

  2. Practice the steps using the CIB printout and video

  3. Book your practical exam asap

  4. Reach out to me to book a last class before you take the practical exam to check your bagging and go over odorless acrylic application (if you did odorless acrylic sculpting in your last class we can do this class by video chat)

  5. Take the practical exam (retries are $86 with supplies)
You must pass the theory and practical within 11 months of being approved to take them or you will have to pay to reapply to take both (even if the theory was passed)

  6. After passing both exams mail the envelope with only the license fee form with $105 to get your license by mail in about 3-5 weeks. Congrats!

This is the current video for the end of 2024. Exam steps are updated to prevent cheating so take your practical ASAP. This is a private video ONLY for Virginia Nail School Graduates.

If you have issues booking online you can pay/book by phone calling (833) 310-6427. Calling to reschedule must be done 2 days or more before your booked exam to avoid losing your paid cost.

Practical exams are done at a hotel banquet room. Most start times are at 8:30am on Mondays (sometimes there is a Monday afternoon or Tuesday mornings)

PLAN TO ARRIVE EARLY! Just in case of traffic, taking wrong exits, getting lost and finding parking. If you stay at the hotel your exam will be over after check-out so get your things out of the room before the exam unless someone is with you to do that.
Bring your 2 IDs like at the theory exam!

WHAT TO WEAR? Look neat with hair tied back, no tummy or cleavage showing. No shoes with holes like crocs or shoes that expose your toes or back of your heels.
